Market of monsters6/26/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() Seventeen-year-old Nita and her mother have been all over South America, hunting down all kinds of ‘unnaturals’ – that is, paranormal creatures – and selling their parts on the black market body trade for money. It’s completely unexpected at every turn, and SO SO GOOD. We start out strong, with Nita looking at the body on the table her mother’s brought home for her to dissect, and we go hurtling forward at breakneck speed from there. But there was genuinely not one thing I could think of to improve this book! It’s been hyped quite a bit, and I’m pleased to report that the buzz isn’t misleading. I can’t believe I’ve given out another 5-star rating so soon after the last one. Now she’s going to do a lot of bad deeds to get it all back. Nita did a good deed, and it cost her everything. Now Nita is on the other side of the bars, and there is no line she won’t cross to escape and make sure no one can ever capture her again. Nita just dissects the bodies after they’ve been “acquired.” But when her mom brings home a live specimen, Nita decides she wants out - dissecting living people is a step too far.īut when she tries to save her mother’s victim, she ends up sold on the black market in his place - because Nita herself is a supernatural being. Nita doesn’t murder supernatural beings and sell their body parts on the internet-her mother does that. ![]()
